  • Download the Truckers Trip Planning App for Dispatchers .
  • Dispatchers can now use their own app developed just for Dispatchers. The Dispatchers Truckers Trip Planning App allows Dispatchers to plan, save, and email trip plans for both Company Drivers and Lease or Owner Operators. See the Dispatchers Truckers Trip Planning App Workflow and Screenshots.
  • Currently the Dispatchers app is not setup to calculate whether the driver requires a 34 hour reset before calculating the requirements of the load . This would require that the load requirements be based on the drivers hours of service and whether the driver needs a reset rather than calculating the hours of service required by the load and we would have to try and predict when a driver would need or want to take a 34 hour break.  Since we cannot predict the drivers driving habits this would be quite difficult to do. Therefore,   The purpose of the app is to calculate the hours of service based on the load as it is entered into the Truckers Trip Planning Worksheet so that it can be compared to the drivers remaining hours of service for the determination as to whether the driver can run the load based on his current remaining hours of service and hours gained while running the load. The theory based on the hours of service rules, is that if after comparison, the drivers hours of service is less than what is required by the load and the driver will not gain hours while running the load then he cannot legally deliver the load on time. Therefore the load should be given to a driver who can. Taking into consideration that you have determined already that the driver will need a 34 hour reset but you still want to give the load to this driver, you have recognized that you as the dispatcher need to adjust the delivery appointment while allowing for the driver to take the 34 hour break. The Dispatcher's App is not designed to calculate these adjustments. Regardless, you will have to give the driver the load after the reset. However, as the dispatcher, if you choose to do it ahead of time, you can still use the App to determine his delivery ETA. Assuming that the driver has not yet picked up the load: You would need to determine at what point the driver will start the 34 hour reset and when the driver will be able to drive after the 34 hour reset.  You will need to enter the dispatch into the Truckers Trip Planning Worksheet Based on this information. Enter the number of fuel stops, Enter the hours for load and unload, Adjust the pickup appointment on the Truckers Trip Planning Worksheet for after the 34 hour reset and allowing the driver time to pre-trip, fuel, and drive to the pickup. (For example: If the driver can drive on 9/24/2018 at 12:00 P.M., add 30 minutes for pre-trip, 30 minutes to fuel, and 3 hours to drive if the pickup is 150 miles away which results to setting a pickup appointment of 9/24/2018 at 16:00 P.M.) Enter the distance to the pickup. If already there use at least 1 mile. Enter the distance from the pickup to the delivery. Enter whether the driver will cross any time zones and the number of time zones crossed. Tap on the button to check your ETA's and hours of service requirements. Assuming that the driver has picked up the load prior to starting the 34 hour reset: You will need to recalculate the loads requirements with new dispatch information. You would need to determine at what point the driver will start the 34 hour reset and when the driver will be able to drive after the 34 hour reset.  Based on this information, you will need to reenter the dispatch into the Truckers Trip Planning Worksheet. Enter the number of fuel stops. Enter the hours to load and unload, You still need to Adjust the pickup appointment date and time  on the Truckers Trip Planning Worksheet to allow the driver to pre-trip, to fuel ( if necessary), and drive 1 mile (Note: the app will not calculate without this required information). (For example: If the driver can drive on 9/24/2018 at 12:00 P.M., add 30 minutes for pre-trip, 30 minutes to fuel, and 2 minutes to drive 1 mile which results to setting a pickup appointment of 9/24/2018 at 13:02 P.M.) Enter the distance to the pickup as 1 mile. Enter the distance from the pickup to the delivery. Enter whether the driver will cross any time zones and the number of time zones crossed. Tap on the button to check your ETA's and hours of service requirements.
